  1. Honestly I think the movie could have been better. I think it should have been more serious like the actual story. The reason I'm saying it wasn't serious enough, is because of they way they acted, and definitely the way they dressed. Also, I did not like the way the movie was set in present day. I think it should have been set in the time the story was written. The movie just seemed more like a comedy than the actual story.

  2. Well it started off as just everyone having a normal day then they seen on another at the gas station. They blew up almost everything. To be honest I thought that scene was over done. The way the camera angles and the way they where talking in the movie. You couldn't understand what they where really saying even if you tried. Anyway back to the camera angles I didn't really like how they had then done and the way that they would just come up to there faces and just stare at them...

The good things about the movie are that I love the way that Juilet and Romeo meet I think it's really pretty and well done. The staging for the movie was well done it's just the camera angles and the way they are talking is what is maked the movie kinda boring to me. I love the scene where Juliet and Romeo are in the pool trying to hide from everyone then just she acts like she doesnt know anything..

Funny Parts of the movie. I like the scene where Mercuito looked like a girl, that scene what the funniest of the movie I seen. Then you have those parts where they mess up a word and you just wanna sit there and laugh but, you don't laugh because you know you will get in trouble if you laughed..

  3. This film is an amazing feat of ambition and imagination. William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet, as it is formally known, casts the Capulets and Montagues as gangs ruled by ruthless dons in a 20th-century city of tropical heat and lethal competition.Verona (and neighboring Verona Beach) are patchworks of decay and lurid wealth, where young toughs carry ''Sword'' brand guns decorated with religious icons and billboards advertise ''Propsero Whiskey'' and ''Out Out Damn Spot Cleaners.''The movie weaves a rich tapestry. Its soundtrack mixes rap, rock and classical tunes. Visually, it borrows with taste and wit from opera, television, music videos, gangster movies, Westerns, even Hong Kong martial-arts masters.I have some quibbles with the film - Mr. Sorvino's odd accent, bad cutting in the key role of Mercutio - but those objections are minor in the face of this triumphant, vibrant, modern retelling of a treasured tale.

  4. I didn't care for the movie, It was just not something that I liked. There were some parts I liked and then there were some parts I didn't like. The beginning of the movie was weird to me and hard to understand. The part where Romeo snuck into Juliet's house to see her and they fell in the pool and etc. I liked that part and I also liked to part at the end when Romeo and Juliet die.
Romeo and Juliet is about two people who fall in love and they fight for love. They kill people and there selves for love. They will do about anything just to be with one another. The movie was okay but I prefer the book more than I would the movie. The movie was detailed and well explained.
I wished the movie would have been up to date with the language because some things they said was still hard to understand. Also the beginning of the movie when they were at the ball/party, that was a good scene. I liked that scene but I did not like the scene when they got in a fight and mercutio died. It was very violent and dramatic. That scene was good but it was very dramatic and well done.

  6. Romeo and Juliet was a interesting story/play. There are some things I didn't like about the movie. The movie did not interest me at all. I didn't like the imagery of it. In my opinion, it sucked.
The play on the other hand, was pretty good. It was actually my first time reading the whole play. One thing i didn't like about the play was how they spoke, or pronounced there words. It was very hard to understand what they was saying.
To sum it all up, Romeo and Juliet was a good drama/play. Plus I can tell that this was made "back in the day". Now days, with the technology we have today, they would make a drama look real as you can and use modern things in the drama.

  8. It was an okay movie but ive seen better. Certain parts could have been better and could have been done a little more direct. The part where Romeo and Tybalt were fighting could have been a little different. I mean the reactions and actions were just to fake you couldn't even tell wether or not they were into that part of the scene.

In the near beginning when Romeo, Mercutio, and their friends snuck into the Montagues party was a good scene. All of the details and designs and just the architecture of the party was great. Every thing was just done really good. Everyone's costumes and masks fit in great with the party's meaning. The part where Romeo and Juliet first seen each other at the fish tank was an exciting yet mysterious scene.

I honestly didn't like the part where Juliet's father was pushing her into the floor and yelling. That part could have been a little less harsh. Also Juliet's mother could have stepped in an said something instead of letting him yell and push her around. She could have just told him to let it alone that'd she do it or something to get him to back off.

  9. I think the movie was okay. It was really silly. I agree with Bekkah, it would've been more serious. It did seem more like a comedy than the actual tragedy that the play really was supposed to be.
I didn't like that it was set in the present day. I also think that since they did decide to set it in present day, they should have used current day vernacular. The clothes they wore were clothes they would've worn back when the play was written. Since they used old clothes and old English, they should've set the movie in the past, not the present.

  10. I wasn't to fond of the Movie version. It was extremely cheesy. The dialogue was very odd. One minute they're really into and the next they're just throwing words out there that sound completely ridiculous. I didn't really like them talking in the way they did because it was really stupid. It was like half modern half Elizabethan Era. It was nothing like I would have imagined while reading the play.

The Staging was really out of place for this type of story. It was to new for this type of setting. I honestly think it should have been done somewhere not in the middle of a city. At the beginning of the movie with all the helicopters and guns and stuff just came on a little to strong. I think the movie should have been a little more spaced out and introduced the characters as they came into the story instead of all at the beginning.

The characters were okay. They did well with their part. I don't think they had the way of talking in the old ways mastered. But they were okay. Romeo and Juliet did really good by showing their feelings for each other. They played their parts really well. All of the other characters were really dramatic and played their parts well.

  11. I think the story was to modern day i think it should been how the story was written in the past. I think that the movie should of been better. Cause it was alot of comedy than a romantic movie.

  12. It started off as a regular day then they saw another at the gas station. They blew up almost everything. To be honest I thought that scene was over done. The way the camera angles and the way they where talking in the movie. The camera angles were wierd because they would zoom in on everybody.

The cool part of the movie is where Romeo and Juliet meet. The staging for the movie is well done. I like the scene where Romeo and Juliet hide in the pool because it is sneaky.

I like the scene where Mercutio looked like a girl, because that scene was funny. There are other funny parts in the movie, but the movie really isn't that funny.

  13. The Movie started off as an ordinary day then The Capulets saw The Montagues and they are big rivalries and they started shooting at the gas station. 2 of them were arrested and the rest had got away.

The thing I hated was when Mercutio was killed and when Juliet's father slapped her and made her fall and yelling at her.

Funny Parts were when Mercutio was looking like a girl at that party.

  15. The movie was alright. it was just like any other day. but they seen each other at the gas station , they started shooting. some got awa, some got arrested. the part that was funny is when mercutio looked like a girl at the party. and the nurse is a comic charachter in romeo and juliet. so some of the things she was was funny. i didnt really like the end because of what she did . She is one stupid person. but all an all it was a pretty good movie!

  16. The movie was okay in my opinion. Some parts I found funny and comical. Other parts I found silly and lost. The movie seemed cheap and cheesy in my opinion. The way the director tried to infuse the old language with the new scenery was a failed attempt. It is hard to follow a movie that has old dialogue and modern characters and props.

The setting was out of place for this movie. The old play with a new setting did not work very well. The movie should have been set in Elizabethan Verona. The use of guns and vehicles shocks you in the beginning, but you gradually get used to it. Over all it was an okay movie. It could have been better.

  17. The movie was a terrible modern rendition of it. The reason is because that they should have put it were it made more sense and put it in modern day english. The movie is very badly done in my opinion the way they tried to infuse the old with the new and it didnt work because the way that they said and did everything was very stupid and didnt look right. The place were they filmed the movie wasnt a good choice. The only part I liked in this movie was when mercutio came to the party as a girl because it was funny and he sort of fitted his part.

  18. The movie was alright, it could've been better because at the gas station it should've been more action filled. The part that i did like to see was when Romeo and Juliet went to see eachother, i think that was very romantic for them to get married.

  19. The was straight, the beginning of the movie should have been more better than it was.The part that really made me mad was when Romeo drunk the poison right when Juliet woke up.
